Tents, Edinburgh, the Highlands and Nessie
AQA 63336 August customer story
Edinburgh's very popular in August, what with the Fringe taking place as well as various other festivals. Nick, Rich and Mel set off from Leeds to enjoy the festivities, armed with some basic supplies and a mobile phone. We'll let them take the story from here:
| "The three of us (Nick, Rich and Mel) set off from Leeds on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Edinburgh with the intention of camping for 2 nights. To our despair, first time camper Nick, discovered he had failed to bring the tent poles. Having traveled for 4 1/2 hours there was no way we were returning home. AQA TO THE RESCUE!! Our faithful friend AQA pointed us in the direction of a late night local tent shop. An hour and a half behind schedule we were ready for the fun to begin and were the proud owners of a brand new tent. |

Several beers later the group was divided over whether there was ever a ginger broom cupboard presenter on BBC 1. AQA TO THE RESCUE. Nick and Richard were prevented from coming to blows by the news that indeed Simon Parkin had presented from the broom cupboard between 1987 and 1991.

| We also needed to know some Theo Roosevelt quotes. AQA TO THE RESCUE! But this time we got a much more personal service. To our surprise two of your researchers were sat at the table next to us. Jon and Elise were a delight to meet, they even gave us pork scratchings while they explained the precise science behind AQA. |

| Our fun in Edinburgh was coming to an end. AQA TO THE RESCUE! Before returning home we asked AQA whether we should stay for another night, go home or have an adventure... AQA responded with the following message, "AQA thinks you should go on an adventure in the Highlands. There is only so much of the festival any sane person can take. Go home to Leeds on Monday!". |

We set sail for the Highlands. First stop Findhorn, on the way passing Reindeer House near Aviemore where AQA informed us that "Mikel Utsi introduced reindeers to Scotland in 1952. There are currently 130 to 150 reindeer running through the Cairngorn Mountains."
At this point we were so far into the Highlands that our phone no longer worked.... We were on our own. However Nick realised that AQA had brought him closer than ever before to his long lost relative, Andy Race, a fishmonger in Mallaig, 134 miles west of Findhorn. So we set off via Loch Ness and some of the most beautiful scenery we'd ever seen (including Nessie herself!) to the isolated port of Mallaig. |

| Mallaig brought us some interesting new experiences, not only did we meet the long lost and very lovely Andy Race and his wonderful wife Helen, but we toured the local port, visited a fish factory, tasted razor clams, smoked our own fish and frolicked on the beach from Local Hero. The time had come to return home. As per AQA's instructions we headed back to Leeds, arriving as Sunday night became Monday morning. AQA had provided us with a 1000 mile round trip, a host of fun and new experiences, but not enough pairs of clean pants. Oh well, there's only so much you can do. Thanks very much for a great adventure AQA, it's been emotional, and expensive. Could we please have £100 towards the petrol?" |
