AQA fixes it for Jim
AQA 63336 customer story - wins £100.
Each month we give away £100 to customers who write in with great stories about how texting 63336 has made their lives better. This month it's Jim's turn. We know AQA can be entertaining, as we've set out to make it that way. So it's great to hear somebody writing in saying how they're using the power of AQA's answers to provide comedy shows. Jim wrote in:
| "I've been a stand-up comedian for just over two years now. I'd never used AQA until about a year ago when I was staying in Edinburgh after performing at the legendary Stand club. I sat in the hotel bar with several other comics of varying levels of fame and one of them mentioned AQA. Now I had heard of the service and was intrigued by it, but this night we all decided to text 63336 to ask who we were to test out the hallowed answering service. Surely it didn't know who I am? I have family members who wouldn't even recognise me if I knocked on their door! Alas, about a minute after texting "who is Jim Smallman" I got an answer, it was right and I became hooked. |

I'm addicted to trivia. A big part of comedy that audiences enjoy is being told a fact that they can memorise and is interesting, informative or downright bizarre. If you can make them go "ooh" at a fact and THEN tell them a joke based on it and make them laugh then that's a lovely formula. I've always been a bit of a smarty-pants so as my AQA addiction grew I found out more and more bizarre and amazing facts and have used them to write material. Recently I've been writing a show called "My Name is Jim and I Know All the Answers" for comedy festivals in 2008 and whenever I get stuck on getting my facts right I fire off a quick text message and I know I'm quoting the right stuff.

I compere a lot of gigs and recently I've been mentioning AQA and getting audiences to text the service to find the most interesting and amusing facts, with the best ones winning prizes. It's thrown up some fantastic stuff and has led to a lot of the information I've used for my solo show. I figure that there are millions of questions out there and even though I'd like to know all the answers, I really don't. I need some help and AQA has certainly been providing that!
Normally when I'm onstage I switch my phone off, but when I start performing my new show I'm going to keep it on and in my pocket just in case an audience member queries one of the facts that I state. I'm going to claim that I know the answers, but AQA is going to be my backup. I'm just going to have to learn to text with my hand in my pocket..." |
